Have you tried entering your password blind? That is a sufficient work-around
for me, and I do not have to shut down and restart.

Also, since I changed themes, I haven not experienced this bug, so that is a
possible work-around as well.

KDE is a volunteer organization, so this bug will get some love when there is
someone with sufficient time and knowledge to tackle this bug.
