I have over 6000 images under 28mm.  I like big landscapes. (:-)) 

I think a grid display would be best.  Something simple.  Select the metadata
columns you want to see like make, model, lens, focal length, and then the grid
has those columns with a count column.  Click on the column grid header to sort
ascending or descending.  It's almost like a spreadsheet, but with a UI with
dynamically populated dropdowns with checkboxes in the dropdown to select the
metadata values.

Where does this exist in digiKam now?  How did I miss it?  I've been looking
for this for years!
