Bug ID: 495798 Summary: kio-admin does not allow changing ownership from the UI (e.g. Dolphin) Classification: Frameworks and Libraries Product: kio-admin Version: 23.08.5 Platform: Kubuntu OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: major Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: unassigned-b...@kde.org Reporter: wyattbi...@gmail.com CC: sit...@kde.org Target Milestone: --- kio-admin does not allow changing ownership from the UI (e.g. Dolphin) STEPS TO REPRODUCE (I used Dolphin for this) Install kio-admin Navigate to admin:/// and login . Copy a folder from a different user to your current user. E.g. user1 to user2 The ownership of the new copied folder is root so it needs to be chowned to the current user. Right click on folder and select Properties to change ownership while still as root (admin:///) The ownership fields are disabled and cannot be changed. Only way to change ownership is to use chown command line. EXPECTED RESULT When selecting a folder while in kio-admin (e.g. admin:///user2/somefolder), the UI pplication should allow changing ownership from the UI (e.g. Dolphin) SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Operating System: Kubuntu 24.04 KDE Plasma Version: 5.27.11 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.115.0 Qt Version: 5.15.13 Kernel Version: 6.8.0-48-generic (64-bit) ADDITIONAL INFORMATION This discussion started because of Open As Root to copy a folder from another user. It was recommended to use kio-admin instead, and that's how the problem was found. It is believed this could be a kio protocol with UI issue. https://discuss.kde.org/t/dolphin-open-as-root-does-not-use-the-users-display-settings/24948/9?u=wyattbiker -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
