Ouch!!
My bad, that "Keep selection ..." checkbox definitely wasn't there before
reporting the issue. Most probably came with the last Plasma update and I
didn't notice it.
Unchecking it makes Klipper working as expected. Apologies for the false alarm
and thanks for answering.
