I'm experiencing this issue as well, also on Arch Linux. I don't have an actual
second screen plugged in, but the display settings do show me a second
"display" which is actually just a strange duplicate of my laptop's screen. I
have this erroneous display disabled. My workaround is to select "Switch User"
which sends me back to SDDM from where I can log in. I haven't checked for what
errors show when I attempt to log in, I'll do that next time it happens. This
only happens to me sometimes, I can't tell if it's duration-based or random.
