After test, I confirm that using categories with a suffix works perfectly. Then
it gets mandatory to use a search template ("every transaction in categories
named with that suffix") to have the proper filter loaded in the Report window.
One useful thing would be to be able to save the filter so it stays available
in the Report window. That way, it would be possible to select transactions
based on what you want to visualize, and to just check the saved filter in
order to exclude categories with the suffix.
