STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Click New to create an empty document
2. Type "blabla" so that it has some content
3. Save to disk to your home directory for example with a name
"this_important_file.txt"
4. Close Kate

The "this_important_file.txt" should be in the recent files list.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Windows:
macOS:
(available in the Info Center app, or by running `kinfo` in a terminal window)

Operating System: Debian GNU/Linux 12
KDE Plasma Version: 5.27.5
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.103.0
Qt Version: 5.15.8
Kernel Version: 6.1.0-26-amd64 (64-bit)

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

If I use Open to open a file, then it shows up in the recent files as expected.
It is only the "New" and then "save" that forgets to update that list. Note: I
tried to find duplicates of this issue, in case it was already reported but I
did not find any.

In Kate Settings, I tried both "load last used session" and "manually choose
session". Both have this issue (or maybe this issue is unrelated)
