If the pointer kcm has some deficiencies, we need to address that rather than
add a new configuration option to work around those deficiencies.

It's better to create a new bug report so it's easier for people to catch up
what a bug report is about. When a bug report is filed for one thing, but then
it's renamed later, it's hard to get the idea what the issue is later.
