Bug ID: 491503 Summary: No way past "Cannot Open File" error and no way to "skip" the offending file Classification: Applications Product: krename Version: unspecified Platform: Ubuntu OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: heiko.bec...@kde.org Reporter: randou...@use.startmail.com Target Milestone: --- *** If you're not sure this is actually a bug, instead post about it at https://discuss.kde.org If you're reporting a crash, attach a backtrace with debug symbols; see https://community.kde.org/Guidelines_and_HOWTOs/Debugging/How_to_create_useful_crash_reports *** SUMMARY (v5.0.2) - After selecting files to rename and clicking open, an error appears "file ... could not be found" but the file often doesn't exist and you can't proceed without canceling. The file names given often aren't present in the directory either. This makes the app unusable because there's no practical way to identify the affected file. The app desperately needs a "Skip" option (or better, an auto skip option that displays an error report) that leaves the file offending file unchanged, allowing the user to manually rename and move it. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Select files to rename 2. Click Open 3. Get error: The file "/home/...../FILENAME" could not be found 4. Attempt to locate the file but there is no file with the exact name (though several with some part of the beginning of the name) 5. Cancel the rename attempt 6. Try again with same result OBSERVED RESULT If the app throws this error there's no practical way to get around it other than selecting small batches, which is unpractical with large numbers of files. EXPECTED RESULT SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Windows: macOS: (available in the Info Center app, or by running `kinfo` in a terminal window) Linux/KDE Plasma: Pop!_OS 22.04 LTS; GNOME 42.9 KDE Plasma Version: KDE Frameworks Version: Qt Version: ADDITIONAL INFORMATION -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
