SUMMARY
digikam 8.4 installed via App Center in Ubuntu 24.04 does not start. It runs
once after installation but after restart it fails to start up.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. install from app center
2. restart pc
3. start digikam
OBSERVED RESULT
the start-up window appears for a moment. It dissapears after "loading tools"
is displayed, but main digikam windows does not appear.
if I uninstall and run it again, it starts for the first time ok, but then it
gets back to not starting properly.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
workaround: somewhere (I cant find it anymore) I found that starting with
--platform xcb might help. Indeed, it does make digikam start fine, but then it
does not work well (window turns black, responds to keyboard with a delay).
Interestingly, after quitting digikam that started this way, I can then start
digikam normally and it seems to work fine. However, if I quite this instance
and start it again, it reverts to not starting again.
