Bug ID: 491175 Summary: Move a file by using file system browser in Kate Classification: Frameworks and Libraries Product: frameworks-kio Version: 5.92.0 Platform: Mint (Ubuntu based) OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: wishlist Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: kio-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: milasud...@gmail.com CC: christ...@cullmann.io, kdelibs-b...@kde.org, kwrite-bugs-n...@kde.org, waqar....@gmail.com Blocks: 479862 Target Milestone: --- +++ This bug was initially created as a clone of Bug #479862, as a response to the comment by Waqar Ahmed +++ *** If you're not sure this is actually a bug, instead post about it at https://discuss.kde.org If you're reporting a crash, attach a backtrace with debug symbols; see https://community.kde.org/Guidelines_and_HOWTOs/Debugging/How_to_create_useful_crash_reports *** SUMMARY STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. 2. 3. OBSERVED RESULT EXPECTED RESULT SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Windows: macOS: (available in the Info Center app, or by running `kinfo` in a terminal window) Linux/KDE Plasma: KDE Plasma Version: KDE Frameworks Version: Qt Version: ADDITIONAL INFORMATION SUMMARY Kate has some built-in file management features. For example, it easy to rename or delete a file. This works in the file system browser or the project view. I am missing the option to move a file or directory. I tried drag-and-drop but it does nothing. *** NOTE: If you are reporting a crash, please try to attach a backtrace with debug symbols. See https://community.kde.org/Guidelines_and_HOWTOs/Debugging/How_to_create_useful_crash_reports *** STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Select a file in the file system browser 2. Try to drag it into another directory OBSERVED RESULT * The cursor changes so it looks like a copy/move depending on whether or not I hold down shift * When I try to "drop" in another directory, nothing happens EXPECTED RESULT * The move or copy should happen depending such that it matches the mouse cursor. On my setup, not holding down shift indicates a copy, and holding down shift indicates a move.
