I had the issue that was resolved by downgrading xdg-desktop-portal. I think
this issue is separate from OP's issue. My issue was that when screensharing,
it was possible to select a window or a screen to share, but after selecting
the screen to share, the "recording" icon would pop up in the system area (on
the panel) but the app would not actually see the screen being shared.
