I'm not able to reproduce this on Solus or KDE Neon, Plasma 6.1.1
KMail 6.1.1 (24.05.1)
I tried with and without enabling custom fonts. I tested a number of fonts for
the message body, and they all looked as clear as fonts in the rest of the UI.
In your KMail settings, under Appearance - Fonts, do you have custom fonts
enabled?
If so, what font do you have selected for "Message Body"?
