I can reproduce this on X11. I also confirm that the desired behavior happens
in Wayland.
There are still quite a few issues that make people prefer X11 even if they
want to use Wayland. In my case, Firefox has been crashing repeatedly on
certain websites, likely due to specific javascript. This doesn't happen with
X11.
