That's not KDE Partition Manager. This seems to be Ubiquity installer.
By the way, there is always almost 1 MB of free space before the first
partition in order to align partition boundaries. It might not be displayed in
some partition managers though.
E.g. MBR takes the first sector. So you need to skip another 2047 sectors in
order for new /boot partition to start at 1MB boundary.
