Bug ID: 487955 Summary: Pinned programs in Plasma 6 taskbar are behaving like in dock mode Classification: Plasma Product: plasmashell Version: 6.0.5 Platform: Other OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: Panel Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org Reporter: m...@elbmurf.de CC: niccolo.venera...@gmail.com Target Milestone: 1.0 Created attachment 170086 --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=170086&action=edit Taskbar in Plasma 6, mixing unstarted and started programs horizontally Pinned programs in Plasma 6 taskbar are behaving like in dock mode After upgrading to Plasma 6, my pinned programs in my taskbar are behaving mind-boggling wrong: In Plasma 5, pinned programs were on the left side until you opened then, then they would wander to the right side, with their window titles, until closed. Now, with Plasma 6, the task bar entries are appearing right at the position the pinned icon was, making the taskbar an convoluted mess. Regular task entries with window titles sit next beneath several icon-only, unstarted programs. It’s how the Windows 7+ dock works, but that’s not what I’m expecting of a regular taskbar. See my screenshot for illustration. I could create classical starter icons instead of pinned programs, but then it wouldn’t work to save screen estate in the panel, the icon would always be on the left and taking up much needed space for titles in the taskbar. EXPECTED RESULT Started programs off pinned starters should move to the right, like it was with Plasma 5. The taskbar shouldn’t be a mix of task entries and unstarted programs.
