Looks like I prematurely closed this. It is true that I no longer see a tiny
square denoting that xwaylandvideobridge is running, but the input is still
being eaten invisibly. I don't know whether it was a one off that I got it to
work for a time or not, but it is back to not working on the first virtual
desktop again.
