            Bug ID: 487657
Summary: Feature request: easy way to crop a video
    Classification: Applications
           Product: kdenlive
           Version: 23.08.5
          Platform: Other
                OS: All
            Status: REPORTED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: NOR
         Component: User Interface
          Assignee: j...@kdenlive.org
          Reporter: tobias.b...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY

It is so far really hard to crop a video (i.e. trim some parts of an existing
clip). So far, I need:
1. create a snapshot of a frame of the video, e.g. with vlc
2. open this in gimp, and use the selection tool to get the size of the region
to crop
3. create a new profile in kdenlive with this size
4. import the clip
5. use the transform to position the clip correctly

This is even harder to do when the video to crop is a kdenlive project with
many clips: it is indeed impossible to change the profile of an opened project,
and recreating it from scratch can be really tedious.

It would be great instead to have a simple interface, like Krita's "crop"
feature, where I can draw a rectangle to know what to crop easily, done in such
a way that this would automatically update the project setting to the new size.
