Same issue here with me with plasma 6.0.4 on Fedora 40. Disabling KScreen2 did
the trick for me as well.
Before somebody stat commenting that F40 KDE cannot run on X - actually this is
not the truth. F40 KDE is capable of running "the hidden" X11 session option
via manually installing package plasma-workspace-x11 and sddm-x11. These
packages are part of the official repos.
