We've got our own fork of the file mentioned in that bug -- because we've added some more tablets, like the ones that advertise themselves as uc-logicwhich means we should regularly check for the delta. I've added the patch from that bug to our fork now (in the rempt/impex-refactoring branch, not master -- if you want to test that, build from that branch.) I'm not really deep into that code, though...
