I noticed issue 445196 when searching for mine, and while that description of
the bug does not match our bug, the fix for that bug DOES fix this one.
The true fix is "don't use the gstreamer phonon backend at all", to paraphrase
the KDE devs/maintainers, and to that effect, I've filed for its deletion from
OpenSUSE (which installs it by default) and removed it from my machine and
fixed this issue.
