Not sure if this is actually the same bug, but I'm having the same or a similar
issue on Plasma 5.27.8. Neither the applications in my favorites are
highlighted when hovering over them with the cursor, nor the current date in
the system tray's calendar or the selected windows in the large icon window
switcher are highlighted.
