Bug ID: 475761 Summary: Update notifier doesn't talk to PackageKit anymore -> no more update checks and notifications Classification: Applications Product: Discover Version: 5.27.8 Platform: Fedora RPMs OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: Notifier Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org Reporter: kwi...@gmail.com CC: aleix...@kde.org Target Milestone: --- Created attachment 162383 --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=162383&action=edit transactions 822-824 are from pkcon, 825+826 from Refresh, rest from Discover Update notifier somehow looses connection to PackageKit, as it seems. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Do a fresh boot of the system -> notifier works 2. Start journalctl -f -u packagekit 3. After a few laptop lid close & suspend, then wake up from suspend, check if you still see PackageKit get-updates entries in journal; this should be once a day (default check rate); if you miss this entry for > 24h, continue to next step 4. Right click on Updater, select Refresh -> no entries in journal 5. Open a shell and issue a `pkcon refresh` -> you will see the entries in the journal 6. Again, right click on Updater, select Refresh -> you will see that now also Discover caused an entry while talking to PackageKit 7. Click on Updater -> Discover opens; click on Update > Refresh; if updates are available, they will be shown in discover, while Updater still doesn't show anything. (Maybe this happened because I did not give enough time to Updater to process the updates) OBSERVED RESULT Updater doesn't inform about available updates. EXPECTED RESULT Updater should check updates once a day (as configured) and inform about updates.
