Bug ID: 475279 Summary: Mobile friendly desktop UI when using "Remote input" plugin (e.g. temporal overwrites to desktop fractional scaling settings and font size) Classification: Applications Product: kdeconnect Version: 23.08.1 Platform: Ubuntu OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: wishlist Priority: NOR Component: common Assignee: albertv...@gmail.com Reporter: stephan.se...@fau.de CC: andrew.g.r.hol...@gmail.com Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY I often use KDE connect when using my computer to watch movies from my couch. KDE Connect provides excellent great possibilities to interact with my desktop from my phone using "Remote input", "Multimedia control", "Share with..". + KDE connect. A small problem that I've encountered is that I generally use small font sizes when using my desktop. When using "Remote input", this makes it difficult to hit small buttons and read small text. It would be nice when I could set temporal overwrites to the scaling of my desktop font sizes or the "Global scaling" option when using the "Remote input" plugin. When I manually change "Global scaling" on my desktop before using "Remote input" from my phone. The experience is much better as buttons and fonts appear larger. When I return to my desktop I need to set the setting back to 100%. I've considered resolving this problem for me personally using the "Run command" plugin to configure a "change settings for big font UI", "change settings for small font UI" but it would be nicer to configure settings directly from my phone STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Use a small desktop font size. Set "Global Scale" in "Display Configuration to 100% 2. Use KDE Connect "Remote input" from about 6m distance (interact with browser, switch tabs, play YouTube videos). 3. Set "Global Scale" in "Display Configuration to 300%. Restart apps that don't automatically react to the changed settings. 4. Use KDE Connect "Remote input" from about 6m distance (interact with browser, switch tabs, play YouTube videos) OBSERVED RESULT When using a "Global Scale" from about 100%, text on the desktop is difficult to read. Hitting some buttons on the screen is difficult because of their small size. When using a "Global Scale" from about 300%, most text on the desktop readable. Bigger buttons make it easier to interact with UI. EXPECTED RESULT Ideally, I would like to have some settings in the "Remote input" plugin on my Android phone to set a certain "Global Scale" settings or a scaling factor for fonts while using the plugin. Also a button toggle button "Switch to mobile friendly UI" could be a solution. These settings should not affect my general desktop settings. When I stop using "Remote plugin" UI should be changed back to normal or a button could appear on the desktop or phone to "Exit mobile friendly UI".
