It was SIGNIFICANTLY better in X11 than Wayland, but the lag when hovering the taskbar entries inbetween the moment of the hover and the preview appearing, some few hundred milliseconds or more, the whole system is lagging, even the video in the browser is skipping frames. On Wayland it's just so bad I can't even begin to use it. Going anywhere near a taskbar icon is guaranteed to break either that preview, the application menu, It was the same regardless of any of the other Plasma renderer settings or compositor latency settings.
