Bug ID: 473314 Summary: Picking OK in the document renaming dialogue locks the Kate session Classification: Applications Product: kate Version: 20.12.2 Platform: Mint (Debian based) OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: kwrite-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: gcaldw...@garlin.com Target Milestone: --- Created attachment 160919 --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=160919&action=edit Screen shot of the response to the OK button in the rename module SUMMARY I am running Kate 20.12.2 as a Flatpak on Linux MInt Debrian Edition 5. When I right click on a txt file that is open in Kate and pick rename and then highlight the file name and pick OK, I get a dialogue box that says " This action will overwrite 'document file path/filename.txt' with itself. Please enter a new file name. The dialogue box and related buttons and actions are unavailable. None of the buttons work and I am unable to close the window or take any other action. To shut this window down, I have to activate the "kill" command. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Open a text document in Kate 2. Right click on the document file name 3. Pick rename 4. Select OK 5. A dialogue box opens (see attachment) OBSERVED RESULT Picking OK effectively locks that session of Kate. EXPECTED RESULT The dialogue box as written is the expected result that should allow you to either cancel out or input a new name SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS System: Kernel: 6.1.0-0.deb11.7-amd64 x86_64 bits: 64 compiler: gcc v: 10.2.1 Desktop: Cinnamon 5.6.8 tk: GTK 3.24.24 wm: muffin dm: LightDM Distro: LMDE 5 Elsie base: Debian 11.2 bullseye ADDITIONAL INFORMATION I am also running MX-23 AHS in a Gnome Box and there I have been unable to replicate this bug. In MX-23, when I pick OK, the rename dialogue box shuts down and when I close the file, I get another dialogue box asking if I want to save the file. MX-23 is using Kate 22.12.3 After I complete this report, I found a similar report from 2022 that says it was resolved but I am still experiencing an issue. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
