SUMMARY
File content can be lost for no reason due to this bug.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Make a file with contents "\taaa\n\tbbbccc"
2. Go to the very beginning of the second line (before the tab); backspace to
delete the \n and put both lines together
3. Immediately press Enter to restore the \n

OBSERVED RESULT
File content is now "\taaa\n\tccc" - "bbb" has been lost

EXPECTED RESULT
File content should go back to being "\taaa\n\tbbbccc"
