Bug ID: 469904 Summary: Task manager freezes while evolution is sending an email Classification: I don't know Product: kde Version: unspecified Platform: Other OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: unassigned-b...@kde.org Reporter: david.cortes.riv...@gmail.com Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY The (icons-only) task manager oftentimes hangs for a while when evolution is sending an email. It doesn't happen every single time, and doesn't happen on a fresh session start. I'm not sure what entirely triggers it, but after a while of using the computer, every email sent through evolution hangs the task manager. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Use the computer normally for many hours. 2. Launch evolution (GTK email client). 3. Add your user email, write an email to some other address, and send it. Optionally, configure evolution to hold the email in an outbox for a while and wait for the exact moment at which it is sent. OBSERVED RESULT The task manager hangs for 1-2 seconds. Clicking icons on it during this time period doesn't trigger any action until the freeze is over, nor does right-clicking the icons, whereas switching windows with alt+tab works instantly. Other KDE apps like Kate do not suffer from any issues while this is happening. If evolution is configured to send the emails instantly and one groups windows of apps in the task manager, it will also cause a visual glitch as described in bug 445539. EXPECTED RESULT The task manager's inner workings should not depend on what an email client is doing.
