Bug ID: 468916 Summary: Plasma Panel Visually Freezes Classification: Plasma Product: plasmashell Version: 5.27.4 Platform: Gentoo Packages OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: major Priority: NOR Component: Panel Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org Reporter: m...@gabby.li CC: n...@kde.org, niccolo.venera...@gmail.com Target Milestone: 1.0 Created attachment 158392 --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=158392&action=edit Example of Replicating the Freezing Taskbar Defect SUMMARY When this occurs, the Plasma panel becomes unresponsive. It no longer updates its information, including taskbar icon animations and hover states. Neither the task manager nor the system clock updates (and one keeps thinking "ok, it's 16:30" when really it's 18:00). I use the following commands to restart the plasma shell, which fixes the issue: ``` kquitapp5 plasmashell kstart5 plasmashell ``` STEPS TO REPRODUCE See attached video for an example. 1. Install Firefox. 2. Put it in the taskbar panel as an icon. 3. Move the mouse over Firefox in taskbar. 4. Immediately click, and do not move the mouse off the icon while the application loads. OBSERVED RESULT The panel freezes, mostly obviously in the fact that the Firefox icon will have a green loading spinner that is not moving. The clock will also not update, which is a serious issue as noted above. EXPECTED RESULT The panel does not freeze.
