Bug ID: 467648 Summary: Right-click context menu doesn't work on panels or desktop after fresh install. Keyboard/locale issue suspected. Classification: Plasma Product: plasmashell Version: 5.25.5 Platform: Ubuntu OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org Reporter: davidan...@gmail.com CC: k...@davidedmundson.co.uk Target Milestone: 1.0 Created attachment 157490 --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=157490&action=edit CA keyboard with redefined multix variant STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. On a fresh Kubuntu 22.10 install, set system keyboard to Canadian Multilingual Standard (selected as French (Canada) - intl.) 2. Reboot and login using the new user 3. Right-click the desktop or an empty portion of the panel to obtain a context menu 4. Install the attached keyboard layout as /usr/share/X11/xkb/symbols/ca, reboot, and the problem goes away 5. Reinstall the original /usr/share/X11/xkb/symbols/ca and the problem returns OBSERVED RESULT No context menu is presented EXPECTED RESULT Context menu for the selected component SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux/KDE Plasma: Kubuntu 22.10 KDE Plasma Version: 5.25.5 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.98.0 Qt Version: 5.15.6 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION 1. This may be a Qt bug, since Qt has a somewhat strained relationship with xkb. 2. In order to reproduce this bug, it may be necessary to set the system locale to one such as EO, which X assumes to be encoded in iso8859-3 and the rest of Kubuntu assumes to be encoded in UTF-8. 3. This may not be the only keyboard that causes the problem. I read out on the web that there is a German variant that triggers it as well, but this is the only one I know of from experience. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
