Bug ID: 466430 Summary: Wayland does not remember my monitor arrangement and crashes when I try to move a window into the second monitor. Classification: Plasma Product: kwayland-integration Version: unspecified Platform: Archlinux OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: crash Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org Reporter: juuso.maen...@tutanota.com Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY *** I have a dual-monitor setup (laptop screen + external screen). Whenever I connect my second monitor, Wayland doesn't remember the config I chose for it (extend to right). If I try to drag a window into the external monitor, the screen goes black for a few seconds and all open apps crash. This doesn't happen if I select "Extend to right" from the monitor config widget, but the option gets reset whenever I connect my external display again after unplugging it. This has never occured to me in X11. *** STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Attach an external monitor into a laptop on Wayland. Don't change any configs. 2. Open any app. 3. Try to drag the window to the external monitor. 4. All the apps crash and the screen goes black for a few seconds. 5. After the crash, you are able to move apps to the second monitor. 6. When you unplug and re-plug the monitor, the issue is repeated as the config is not changed. OBSERVED RESULT All the apps crash and the screens go black EXPECTED RESULT The window gets moved to the external monitor properly SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux/KDE Plasma: EndeavourOS with kernel version 6.1.12-arch1-1 (available in About System) KDE Plasma Version: 5.27.1 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.103.0 Qt Version: 5.15.8 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION This has been happening since the first time I tried Wayland in Plasma 5.26 and it has never worked. I deleted all my kscreen config files from "~/.local/share/kscreen" and it asked for the arrangement when I connected the external monitor. I chose "Extend to right" but it still didn't work. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
