This bug still happens in 5.1.5 on a Mac M1, so it seems to be unrelated to
Nvidia.  I'm on macOS 12.6.2 using a Mac Mini M1 (2020).  As Alberto said
though, unchecking Use Texture Buffer seems to correct the problem.

For me though the image doesn't "gradually" disappear, it goes completely
transparent immediately when I zoom in or out after resizing the canvas. 
Worse, if I save and re-open the saved file is also completely transparent!

I second the suggestion of switching to the Metal API instead of OpenGL, though
I also understand that it may be difficult or impossible.
