One other thing that I just thought of: I also cleared out my settings and
cache files when I completely reinstalled the runtimes. Maybe the clearing of
the (qml?) cache actually solved the problem rather than the reinstallation
itself? Could you try and remove the directory ~/.var/app/org.kde.kasts and
see if that helps?
