Bug ID: 460678 Summary: Animation speed affects window resize speed Classification: Plasma Product: kwin Version: 5.26.1 Platform: Archlinux OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: compositing Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: anon...@posteo.de Target Milestone: --- Created attachment 153011 --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=153011&action=edit Resizing windows with different animation speeds SUMMARY The speed of resizing a window seems to be affected by the animation speed set in system settings. When the animation speed is slower than instant, this makes resizing windows feel laggy in my opinion. This gets more apparent when disabling translucency in the desktop effects. I'm not entirely sure whether this is a bug or expected behavior. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Set animation speed in system settings to instant 2. Resize a window 3. Set animation speed to medium 4. Resize a window, observe window resize effect lagging behind mouse cursor OBSERVED RESULT Window size updates slower when the animation speed is not set to instant. EXPECTED RESULT Expected window to update instantly, no matter which animation speed is set. In case this is expected behavior, is there any way to set animation speed of specific animations in kwin, so that I could make the windows resize instantly without setting instant animation speed for all animations?
