Well, that's not what the F5 function was designed for either. It searches for
new images and creates new thumbnails. There is no function to re-read data
from the database. digiKam is currently not multi-user capable (not at the same
time). We do not know whether the data in the DB has been changed by another
program. We have bug reports (wishes) for this. digiKam only monitors within
its own instance whether it changes the DB and updates the caches for the
items.
