Bug ID: 459757 Summary: Clear and Concise option within settings to essentially factory reset Kmail Classification: Applications Product: kmail2 Version: 5.21.1 Platform: Other OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: UI Assignee: kdepim-b...@kde.org Reporter: linus...@gmail.com Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY *** Kmail does not seem to use a single folder to store all its settings and added accounts, and decides to go for a multiple folder route. Where its individual configuration files end up being in multiple different places. I assume Kmail's configuration files are most likely laid out this way for a good reason. So I am not going to fault this, as I don't have an issue here. But it would be nice if there was a clear button within Kmail's settings to completely reset Kmail if need be. Instead of the user having to root around in several different directories, in an attempt to reset the application by deleting all of Kmail's directories and configuration files. All the accounts nuked and everything as well of course, not just the app's basic settings. Like the layout and theme chosen for example. *** OBSERVED RESULT There is no easy way to reset Kmail, especially since unlike other Linux applications it seemingly does not use one central location to store all its configuration files, as well as email accounts in the case of Kmail. EXPECTED RESULT To have an easy to access button within Kmail's settings window to completely reset the application back to a state where it is like that application has never been used. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux/KDE Plasma: Distro: openSUSE Tumbleweed (20220923) KDE Plasma Version: 5.25.5 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.98.0 Qt Version: 5.15.5 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Again, sorry if there is already a way to do this easily through part of Kmail's GUI, and I just did not end up figuring out how. But I did a lot of googling trying to figure out a straight up way to completely reset Kmail through a GUI, and I came up dry. So I decided to create this bug report. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
