This seems to have been resolved a long time ago, and via:
https://commits.kde.org/incidenceeditor/c32d82e481568e41d11e5426005b6c9634f2e9b8
it even works for categories that are encountered for the first time when
opening the dialog (e.g. categories that were created on another machine).
Please reopen if this still happens in 16.08.1 or later.
