Bug ID: 456476 Summary: Clipboard contents not pasted into fields of .desktop file Properties window Product: plasmashell Version: 5.25.2 Platform: Other OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: Clipboard Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org Reporter: andrea.i...@gmail.com Target Milestone: 1.0 SUMMARY Pasting a previous entry from the KDE Clipboard tool into any field of the Properties window that opens when selecting "Edit application" an an apps context menu, is ineffective. But it works fine if snippet is pasted first into Kate (for example) and then copied again from there. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Make sure the KDE clipboard is enabled to benefit from multiple clipboard history items 2. Copy a String of text "A", then copy another one "B" 3. Right click the Edit application entry of the context menu of any app, e.g. Firefox 4. In the Properties window that opens up, choose any editable text field 5. Invoke the clipboard UI (for me it's set to Meta+V), and select the first string you had copied ("A"), which is second in the list of snippets - this should have now been moved to the main copy buffer and be pasted anywhere with a simple Ctrl+V 6. Ctrl+V into the editable text field you chose at 4. OBSERVED RESULT "A" is pasted into the text field EXPECTED RESULT Nothing is pasted SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Operating System: openSUSE Tumbleweed 20220706 KDE Plasma Version: 5.25.2 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.95.0 Qt Version: 5.15.5 Kernel Version: 5.18.9-1-default (64-bit) Graphics Platform: Wayland Processors: 8 × 11th Gen Intel® Core™ i7-1165G7 @ 2.80GHz Memory: 15,4 GiB of RAM Graphics Processor: Mesa Intel® Xe Graphics Manufacturer: Dell Inc. Product Name: XPS 13 9305 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION As a workaround, open a Kate instance, and Ctrl+V again: "A" is pasted as expected. Now withing Kate, select and copy this text, go back to the Properties window and paste into the field you chose at 4. Paste will now work.
