(Disclaimer: I am very new to KWin)
I am currently porting the Burn-My-Windows GNOME extensions [1] to KWin. A user
discovered a bug: On Wayland, the effect is also applied to the overlay which
can be shown while switching virtual desktops. When this happens, KWin crashes.
To reproduce this, just download the Burn-My-Windows effects...
git clone https://github.com/Schneegans/Burn-My-Windows.git
cd Burn-My-Windows
./kwin/build.sh
mkdir -p ~/.local/share/kwin/effects
cp -r kwin/_build/* ~/.local/share/kwin/effects
...and enable one of them in the System Settings, and enable the
desktop-switching overlay. On X11, you can switch desktops, on Wayland, your
session will crash.
