The problem persists. 

Being no expert, this remains unsolvable to me. 

apt install kwin-x11 produces:
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
 kwin-x11 : Depends: kwin-common (= 4:5.18.7-0ubuntu0.1) but it is not going to
be installed
            Depends: libkwinglutils12 (= 4:5.18.7-0ubuntu0.1) but it is not
going to be installed
            Depends: libkwineffects12 (>= 4:5.17.80) but it is not going to be
installed

Could it be, that kwin-wayland depends upon libkwinglutils13, but kwin-x11 on
libkwinglutils12 - so they are mutually exclusive? In that case why, as a
kwin-x11 user I get shut out of my desktop upon upgrade?

Is there a way to force-install kwin-x11 and not care about consequences, like
uninstallation of kwin-wayland? I don't use wayland if I don't have to.
