Bug ID: 451899 Summary: Computer is suspend even after disabling it in power settings Product: kde Version: unspecified Platform: Debian testing OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: unassigned-b...@kde.org Reporter: david.cortes.riv...@gmail.com Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY After updating plasma to 5.24, if I leave the computer inactive for a couple of hours, it will not be usable anymore when I try to reactivate it (nothing is shown on screen, even though the computer is turned on and the fans are making noise, and it doesn't respond to key presses, mouse clicks, or power button presses). I suspect the computer might have been sent to sleep or hibernation somehow, even though I have both those states disabled in systemd and even though my KDE power settings explicitly say not to suspend nor hibernate in any situation. The computer (a laptop from a cheap brand) does not support sleep nor hibernation with linux kernels of the 5.something line, and this kind of thing tends to happen when one tries to enter those states. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Install some old plasma version. 2. Go to the system settings and remove anything from the power settings that would result in sleep or hibernation. Optionally, remove those states altogether from systemd. 3. Update to plasma 5.24.3. 4. Leave the computer inactive for a couple hours. OBSERVED RESULT Computer is not usable anymore: nothing shows on screen, doesn't respond to key presses, doesn't respond to mouse movements or clicks, doesn't respond to power button presses, doesn't switch tty's with Ctrl + Alt + F<number>. Only way to make it usable is through a forcible poweroff. EXPECTED RESULT The computer should be showing the lock screen program and nothing else. In any event, the computer should be usable without a forcible poweroff.
