The VM drivers or VMs themselves are at fault, they mis-use the API - the drm
plane position set by the compositor is ignored, and they pretend that the
"cursor plane" must always be used for cursors. Both things are wrong.

Working around driver bugs is a thing that I'd *really* like to avoid unless
it's completely session-breaking, as otherwise they never get fixed.

So, before we do anything at all in KWin I'd like to at the very least have a
bug report upstream that makes sure that the bug gets tracked in the proper
place, ideally with a comment from the relevant kernel people on what they want
to do about it. And if they don't want to do anything about it in the near
future then the best approach would be if they'd stop pretending like they
support AMS, when they really don't do it properly.
