Nate Graham <n...@kde.org> changed: What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Resolution|--- |INTENTIONAL Status|REPORTED |RESOLVED CC| |n...@kde.org --- Comment #1 from Nate Graham <n...@kde.org> --- Due to the diversoty of audio hardware out there, we unfortunately have no way of knowing whether going above 100% causes the sound to actually be really loud to the point of potential hearing damage, or whether the user has enabled this feature and gone over 100% to compensate for having a laptop with crappy speakers that are very quiet. With certain audio hardware, even 100% could cause hearing damage--potentially even at a lower level if the user is wearing earbuds with a very high maximum volume level. But we can't know any of those things in Plasma, unfortunately. The feature to enable going over 100% volume is off by default, and when you do so, the percentage text showing the current volume level turns first orange, and then red at over 125%. There are only so many ways we can protect the user from themselves before it becomes infantilizing. I don't think we can do this, sorry. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
