Yeah, it doesn't matter if I put the external display on the left or right in
the kscreen, nor if I make my laptop's display primary — it still messes the
displays up.

I've found the culprit of the 'disconnection' behavior: it's the nvidia 510
drivers.
Xrandr output every 0.2s in loop, while turning the display off and the back
on:

HDMI-0 connected primary 3840x2160+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y
axis) 697mm x 392mm
HDMI-0 connected primary 3840x2160+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y
axis) 697mm x 392mm
HDMI-0 disconnected primary 3840x2160+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y
axis) 0mm x 0mm
HDMI-0 disconnected primary 3840x2160+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y
axis) 0mm x 0mm
HDMI-0 connected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)
HDMI-0 connected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)
HDMI-0 connected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)
HDMI-0 connected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)
HDMI-0 connected primary 3840x2160+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y
axis) 697mm x 392mm
HDMI-0 connected primary 3840x2160+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y
axis) 697mm x 392mm
HDMI-0 connected primary 3840x2160+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y
axis) 697mm x 392mm
HDMI-0 connected primary 3840x2160+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y
axis) 697mm x 392mm

It seems that disconnection is being reported while turning the display back
**ON**.

I've downgraded the nvidia drivers back to 495.46 and no disconnection is
reported and plasma behaves as expected.
