I have a laptop here and updated to the latest Windows 10. digiKam is still
running without problems. I see in your signature that you are using "Avast
Antivirus Software". I would uninstall these. The Microsoft Defender is
included in Windows 10, this is not the yellow of the egg either, but in many
tests by computer magazines the Defender shows better detection than some paid
antivirus solutions. From my daily practice I can say that Avast likes to
"block" something and makes the system much slower.

An AMD CPU or GPU will not be the cause here. I already see in many forums that
digiKam is used on Windows 11. It must be related to your installation.
