Bug ID: 448736 Summary: Regression: Desktop notifications don't popup when the application updates them. Product: frameworks-plasma Version: 5.90.0 Platform: Archlinux Packages OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: libplasma Assignee: notm...@gmail.com Reporter: wakeroid+...@gmail.com CC: plasma-b...@kde.org Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY Notifications don't popup when the application updates them. This is a regression, since this has worked fine in KDE in the past, and that still works this way in the other environments. A user has reported this to me, since I'm a developer of an affected app, which is called Deadbeef music player. I'm basically forwarding the bug report for the user, and it's a bit difficult for me to provide some of the bits of information. For example, I don't know when this has stopped working, but I'm assuming it was the latest KDE update in ArchLinux which caused it. To reproduce the issue, you would need to download any Deadbeef build. The build below is recommended, but any build from several years back should be sufficient. https://sourceforge.net/projects/deadbeef/files/travis/linux/1.9/deadbeef-static_1.9.0-beta1-1_x86_64.tar.bz2/download You also need a few audio files with tags (like artist/album/title). STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Run deadbeef, and add a few audio files to the playlist 2. Play a music file, and observe that notification has appeared 3. Wait until the notification fades-out / disappears 4. Seek close to the end of the current media file, and wait until next file starts playing 5. Observe that notification for the newly playing file doesn't appear 6. Observe that notification has been updated, by checking the notification history OBSERVED RESULT Updated notification is sent by the application (can be seen in history in KDE), but doesn't appear on the screen. EXPECTED RESULT The notification should appear on the screen. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS KDE Plasma Version: 5.23.5 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.90.0 Qt Version: 5.15.2 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Please see the user-submitted video for the demonstration of the problem. I'm sorry upfront if I have chosen a wrong Product or Component. I'm not a KDE user, and I have no way of knowing which subsystem is responsible for displaying the notifications. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
