The *only* icons I see are the pinned-app-launchers. In the two just-duped bugs it seems hit-or-miss whether a running app, apparently especially X11 apps (wayland-native app icons either always or most of the time show up, if I'm reading the bugs correctly). That doesn't make it different bugs (which they might or might not be); it makes me the unfortunate 100% reproducer. =:^\ Meanwhile, one of them, bug #444226 comment 2 mentions that the taskmanager code can be found at https://invent.kde.org/plasma/plasma-desktop/-/tree/master/applets/taskmanager .
