Bug ID: 446488 Summary: In Wayland mode start menu is centered like Windows 11 default, in X11 mode its left aligned, bug or feature? Can't change position Product: plasmashell Version: 5.23.3 Platform: RedHat RPMs OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: Application Launcher (Kickoff) Assignee: k...@davidedmundson.co.uk Reporter: tho...@hoberg.net CC: mikel5...@gmail.com, plasma-b...@kde.org Target Milestone: 1.0 Created attachment 144218 --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=144218&action=edit screen shot SUMMARY *** NOTE: If you are reporting a crash, please try to attach a backtrace with debug symbols. See https://community.kde.org/Guidelines_and_HOWTOs/Debugging/How_to_create_useful_crash_reports *** STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Installed CentOS 8.5 on a clean VM from scratch, enabled epel-repos added full plasma desktop, switch to KDE Plasma login 2. Start menu button is at the default left bottom, but the menu opens at the center position, like Windows 11 3. logged out, switched to an X11 session 4. Start menu opens left above start button--the menu position changes between Wayland and X11! OBSERVED RESULT Start menu opens centered, far away from the the start button EXPECTED RESULT Start menu should open right above the start button on the left (or whereever it is) Since this came so close after Windows 11 making the center menu a default, I was assuming this was actually intended as a "feature" and tried to find options to change it. After comparing with the X11 behavior, I am more inclined to believe it's an actuall bug. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Windows: macOS: Linux/KDE Plasma: 5.23.3 (available in About System) KDE Plasma Version: 5.23.3 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.88.0 Qt Version: 5.15.2 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION KVM machine running on oVirt, but same results on physical host -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
