SUMMARY
This is a feature request. There was written in forums that it was better to do
it here (so that it would be seen by developers).
It would be great to have a parameter to change the number of parameters
appearing in SystemSettings. So that people who want to have a lot of them can
have them, and those who want something simple are also satisfied.
OBSERVED RESULT
KDE have too much settings for the majority of computer users. Enough to get
lost in it, and waste time.
And some settings are too hidden for those who need them, which also wastes
time. (Hiding settings too far away wastes time.)
EXPECTED RESULT
Have an easily accessible and understandable parameter to make disappear and
appear less important parameters.
WAYS TO DO IT
=> The easy way of doing it would be to make predefined profiles of parameters,
between which we can switch.
For example : Number of parameters : Minimal | Normal| Maximal
=> The best way of doing it would be :
- to give ratings to a maximum of parameters : the importance of seeing the
parameter.
- to have a default rating for non-evaluated parameters.
- to have the desired parameter to change the amount of parameters (which could
be a sliding cursor) that gives a rating from our choice and hides all the
parameters that don't have a sufficient rating.
In this case, ratings should cover as many numbers (of rating) as possible, so
that the number of parameters can be chosen as accurately as possible. And the
limitation of the amount of possible profiles of number of parameters (if we
put a limit) should be done on the sliding cursor. In this way, we can easily
change at any time the amount of possible profiles.
