For what's it's worth I think you have a bad USB controller, I've comes across
plenty of poor quality USB controllers, not to mention an inadequate power
supply that's supposed to power the drive. In fact I have several USB
controllers that only work properly when I power the drive that's attached to
USB with a ATX power supply, a lot depends on the drive power ratings. If I was
you I'd throw that particular USB controller in the bin and buy a decent
quality USB controller with lots of good reviews. Good luck, now you are using
SATA, I'm sure everything will be fine ! I'm going to log off and stay quiet
now as I don't really think this problem is solely related to KIO copying.
